Philosophy of Education

Active Child Participation

St. Andrew’s ELC intends to guide students in actively participating in learning. We ascribe to the theory that each child is unique and that young children learn best in an environment that promotes inquiry and play-based learning. We support each child's focus on the process instead of the product.

Methodology

St. Andrew's ELC uses a variety of teaching techniques and modalities to serve the varied learning styles of our students. We employ sequential developmental skills and allow the time to experiment with ideas and materials affording each child the opportunity to succeed.

St. Andrew's ELC focuses instruction on the state's Early Learning Standards. We support these standards using the approved Scholastic Big Day for Pre-K curriculum. Additionally, other supplemental materials will be utilized to support inquiry-based learning in Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, and Physical Development. Daily spiritual growth will be supported through weekly chapel service and daily learning activities.

Parent Participation

St. Andrew's ELC recognizes that parents play a vital role in their child's development. Our teachers share regularly with parents: the standards being taught, the themes, and skill development. They will provide opportunities for parents to support their child's learning through ongoing communication.
